The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), established in 2007, is Singapore’s flagship national research centre in quantum technologies. Supported under Singapore’s National Quantum Strategy, the centre has nodes at partner institutions and coordinates research talent across the country.
CQT’s nodes are located at:
- National University of Singapore (NUS)
- Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU)
- Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)
- Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR)
Across these locations, CQT brings together physicists, computer scientists and engineers to do basic research on quantum physics and to build devices based on quantum phenomena. This work spans quantum communication and security, quantum computation and simulation, and quantum sensing and metrology, supported by the development of advanced instruments. The Centre is home to over 30 research group and some 340 staff, students and affiliates. Learn more at https://www.cqt.sg/
About Quantum in Singapore
Singapore’s National Quantum Strategy, announced in 2024, supports scientific excellence, engineering capabilities, innovation and enterprise partnerships and initiatives to attract and retain talent. This is coordinated through national-level programmes, including Singapore’s National Quantum Computing Hub and National Quantum-Safe Network. The National Quantum Scholarship Scheme provides support to students of all nationalities for PhD and selected Masters programmes at Singapore universities. PhD students under this scheme are admitted to the CQT PhD programme, matriculating at one of NUS, NTU or SUTD. The National Quantum Office drives the implementation of the strategy.
